[Harp-L] Harp and rocket science

Just finished working my way through Thomas Pynchon's 1973 Gravity's End. It has some wonderful harp references in it's 700 pages. One of the main characters, Tyrone Slothrop, a harp player, drops it down the toilet and the story continues. There are wonderful phrases such as "his silver chances of song", and "the low reeds singing an instant on striking the porcelain" and many more. Hohner also gets a mention. Does anyone know if Pynchon was a player himself?

Manfred, who's never lost a harp to the crapper.
